| Victoria Sampler Alphabet Series |
Well the second row has taken a long time to finish with my mother-in-law being so ill. It has been so very strange not to pick up a needle for days at a time.

I hope to start on the next row M through to R as soon as possible but:-
"there is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the most important thing"
and at the moment for me it is nursing my mother-in-law.
I think that we have got her through the chest infection but she is very frail and is totally dependent on oxygen now. My goal at the moment is to get some weight back on her so that her body has some strength to fight the next infection. She dipped under six stone at one point.
The doctors and nurses are marvelous and giving us tremendous support to enable us to look after her at home. We now have her pain and nausea totally under control. Many, many thanks for all your kind words of support and prayers. God has been looking after her.
I am afraid that I have no news. I have not left the house for many weeks and haven't really been into the garden. I miss the weekly craft session at the WI and chatting with my blogging friends. I haven't had a chance to participate in the Cabinet of Curiosities course but I have stored the course material to catch up with at a later date.
Until the next time

This piece is gorgeous! I have the "L" design, but that is the only one. I have never seen them all stitched together like this.
I will keep your mother-in-law in my prayers.
Will continue to pray for your mother-in-law. Your stitching is gorgeous, as always! I am unfamiliar with this pattern series & must look into it myself : ) Hang in there Nicola ... things will get better. Hugs to you my friend.
A Gorgeous Sampler. I love all the different textures and effects you have put into each and every section. I can't wait to see the rest. I do hope you get your mother-in-law back to a good weight to help her fight. It's so good of you too to take the time to help her. Not many children would do that for their parents these days. I tended both my mother and brother when they separately became terminally ill with cancer these last few years. It's not easy, I know what you go through. Blessing and prayers to you and your family.
Nicola -- Your stitching is beautiful. I love looking at each letter and all the details. Thea always designs such beautiful things for us to stitch.
I'm glad your MIL is doing better. I hope each day she gets stronger.
I missed your last post Nicola and I'm so sorry to hear about your mil, I do wish her a speedy recovery and I will keep her in my prayers. Your alphabet piece is looking wonderful as always.
This is something I've never done before, but the work is very beautiful. It reminds me very much of something my grandmother had in her house and now I will be very determined to see if she can find it! I admire your strength and determination through this difficult period - I wish her a quick recovery!

Hi Nicola, I have been thinking of you often and wondering and worrying about how you are and how you are all coping. Know that I am praying for you and your MIL and your family.
Gorgeous stitching as usual - it is such a lovely sampler.
all my love, Kaye
I have also been thinking of you wondering how things are going. It is not easy when people we love are so ill. I'm glad that at the moment things are going well. You are both in my prayers.
Oh I love your new sampler. This one is really special. Stitching it at this time will make it into something very special for you and your family.
It's good to see a post from you, Nicola. I've been wondering how you are doing and how your MIL is faring. Good to hear that she seems to be over the worst. I hope she puts on some weight and recovers well. I love your Victoria piece. Wow! It's just wonderful! So many stitches and so many motifs too! I hope you have the time to do the cabinet soon. I'm dying to see how that comes out. I'll be sending more prayers for your MIL and for all of you. Hope the newlyweds are happy too.
Prayers to you, your MIL, and the rest of the family. Here's hoping you have her back up to fighting weight soon.
Congrats on the absolutely stunning stitching. I shall be among the hoards waiting for your next progress --- but we'll all wait patiently for Mom to feel better first.
It's so good to see a post from you Nicola. I've thought of you often and am glad to hear that your MIL is showing signs of improvement. I'll continue to keep you all in my thoughts.

So glad to hear from you again Nicola. I will continue to pray for your MIL. I am sorry things have not been going well there.
Your stitching is fabulous. I just love taking it all in on this sampler.Beautiful! Yes,it is true, we just call them ladybugs. I smile when I hear you across the pond call them ladybirds, so much nicer I think. :) Take care.♥
I'm not familiar with that piece - it certainly is beautiful!
Glad to hear your ML is through her chest infection. I'm sure that is in large part to the wonderful care you and your husband are providing. Thinking of you all.
As always, your stitching and the pieces that you chose to stich are breath-taking! Each and every motif it so interesting. Lots of good thoughts are coming your way for your MIL. How blessed she is to have you.

I was so happy to see your post Nicola. I have been thinking about you and your family and hoping you were all okay. It is a wonderful thing that you are doing, taking care of your MIL. Your sampler is beautiful and I love all the speciality stitches. Every letter is so much fun to look at because there is so much to see...I will continue to keep you in my prayers.
Glad to now that your MIL is doing some better. You all have been in my thoughts. I am so impressed with the Victoria Sampler piece. Truly beautiful.
Happy to know your MiL is feeling better. Hugs to both her and you.
I'm completely in awe with your VS Alphabet sampler. The details in each design is just amazing.
Hugs,
Veronica.
Oh Nicola, your sampler is spectacular. I can't get over seeing all the different stitches. Beautiful. Oh and the ladybug buttons and beads and if I'm not mistaken silk ribbons. Stunning!!!
This is a sampler that I have to look over many times. Lots to see. Is that a Fairy?? I have to see if you posted her photo up-close on a previous post.
I am glad to hear you got her pain and nausea under control. We also are trying and doing our best to get mom to eat - anything. So I feel for you and understand the challenge it is to get your MIL to eat. For mom I offer her a bite of food through out the day & night and I sit right with her and we have meals together. Easier said than done. But I remind her for the pain pills to work she needs to coat her stomach. Then I tell her help me help you, she smiles. Also I never force her to eat - ever. I do make it fun. So hang in there Nicola, now hopefully you are getting rest (don't laugh at me:)). Keep doing your best and God does the rest.
love Annette
Nicola - I've been thinking of you and your MIL. It sounds as though you have a good support system - but that kind of long term 24/7 care is draining. Make sure you take care of yourself as well. I think I could look at your current project for hours at a time - there are so many wonderful little details, motifs, stitches. I'll be you see something new each time you look at it.
Nicola,
Your stitching is as beautiful as ever! I have been thinking of you and praying for you and your MIL as you care for her.
May God bless you!
Love, Heather

It's so good to hear from you, Nicola! My prayers continue for your MIL and for your family. Your stitching is lovely! I'm sure it must give your nerves a bit of a rest to be able to work on the alpha series--plying a needle and thread always calms my nerves!

Your mother-in-law is truly blessed to have such kind and caring people caring for her. I'm glad you have at least been able to get some stress relief through your stitching. This is such an exquisite piece--I am amazed at all the little details the designer managed to squeeze into each letter without making it look overcrowded. Your work is so, so lovely--truly. (And, of course, I was thrilled to see the "L" representing a librarian!!)
Will be thinking of you and hope that your MIL is as comfortable as possible...Sending a warm hug...
Hi Nicola
Your design is absolutely gorgeous, I went researching where I could get the pattern(s) after your last post, and I like it even more seeing the second row. Thank you for all the pictures and the commentary.
Hugs to you and your MIL, I hope she puts on some weight and is feeling a little better.
Hi Nicola, I am very sorry to hear of your MIL's illness, I hope she will continue to improve with your care. She and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. It has been some time since I have been blogging, which I miss but I have been working extra and lost the stitching mojo, the last gifts that I made did that to me.
Your Victorian sampler is coming along so lovely! I love the work you are doing with the ribbon embroidery and the pulled work is also so pretty. I look forward to seeing more of it.
I hope you are keeping well too. Enjoy your weekend best you can.

Dear Nicola the stitching is wonderful. Take care of your MIL but please take care or yourself as well try and find someone to take over so that you still get out. It is important to sometimes have a few hours away. I know I nursed my Dad with late stage AD. Hugs

This looks amazing and incredible! I love the individual letters but would want to stitch them all as you have.
The linen must be huge!
I hope your MIL keeps well and you are able to find some time to stitch. It's a good way to calm a frantic mind.
Hello Nicola...I know it is a lot of stress caregiving at home but it sounds like things are going as well as they can. It's wonderful you mother-in-law can spend the time with you instead of in the hospital.
Your stitching is amazing...that is such a large project and so lovely!! I'm glad I don't have room for it on my walls or I would be tempted myself LOL.
Hope you are taking care of yourself and your newlyweds are doing fine also.
Your friend in Arizona...
Stunning stitching! your mil is so lucky to have you around. I wish you all the best.
